On Sunday, June 25, the City of Camden united for a wonderful celebration – the annual San Juan Bautista Parade!
Starting in North Camden and parading to the Waterfront, an array of community organizations worked together to make it a very successful event. With music, entertainment and the great energy of the people, the atmosphere in the city was magnetic. Camden County Police Department officers did a great job making sure everything went smoothly throughout all of the day’s festivities, from the parade to the festival. The Camden High School marching band and even boxing’s welterweight world champion, Danny “Swift” Garcia took part in the joyous event.
Deputy Chief Simpson and Sergeant Shirk got the parade kicked off by flying the Puerto Rican flag and leading the procession as it made its way through the city!
“It means a lot to me to see events like this being celebrated and for our department to take part in it. Being born and raised in the city, the Hispanic culture has always been so important here and we want to continue that legacy,” said Deputy Chief Simpson.
