The Camden County Police Department is dedicated to not only doing everything it can to making Camden safer for the people who call it home, but also to attending to the physical and mental well-being of our own officers and civilian employees. To that end, we were honored to have Laura DePrado and Lori Jenssen of the New Jersey Nursery and Landscape Association visit our headquarters on March 29 and lead a horticulture therapy event as a way to mark the start of spring and to recognize Horticulture Therapy week in New Jersey.
“We just want to thank you guys so much for allowing us to come visit and we hope everyone walks away from today’s event feeling more relaxed, peaceful and inspired”, said DePrado, president of Final Touch Plantscaping LLC.
Senior citizens from our community joined with officers, detectives and civilian staff from our department to enjoy a lesson on the science and art of growing plants, fruits, vegetables and flowers.
“We’re grateful to be able to host events like this that give our officers a chance to do something fun that helps relieve stress and to get to know some of our city’s senior citizens a little more. It’s what Unity Policing is all about,” said Deputy Chief Janell Simpson.
