Community Safety Bureau
Community Safety Bureau is the department’s operational main effort concentrating on achieving objectives that lead to the prevention of crime while effectively building trust and earning the confidence of our neighbors and our collective community. The Community Safety Bureau is organized into three functional areas: Safe Corridors Division —Responsible for establishing high frequency presence along public space corridors to prevent crime and neighborhood disturbances. Various deployment tactics including foot patrols, bicycle units, and specialized vehicles are utilized dynamically to establish an effective presence, while engaging and connecting on a personal level with members of our collective community. Community I.M.P.A.C.T. Division —Responsible for focused mobilized crime prevention activities aligned with real-time information forecasting heightened risk of violence and neighborhood disruption. Utilizing directed patrols, team-led activities, mobilizations and frequent informal citizen engagement. Neighborhood Events Team —Responsible for participating in and coordinating neighborhood events to ensure such events are safe, collaborative and present opportunities for residents and police officers to have new experiences that build positive relationships among our collective community.
