This week, the Camden County Police Department is proud to recognize the proactive work done by Sergeant Luis Gonzalez and Officer John Gibson to help make Camden safer.
Sergeant Gonzalez joined the Camden County Police Department in 2013 while Officer Gibson joined in 2017. Both are assigned to the department’s Neighborhood Response Team covering the 2nd and 4th Districts.
On the night of July 15th, Sergeant Gonzalez and Officer Gibson were on directed patrol in the area of 1100 South Octagon Road when they received information about a suspect with drugs and an illegal gun in the area. Sergeant Gonzalez and Officer Gibson soon observed a suspect matching the description and approached him on foot to conduct a pedestrian stop. The suspect tried to run from the scene on foot, but Sergeant Gonzalez and Officer Gibson were able to catch him after short chase, and he was found to be in possession of a 9mm Ruger handgun, 36 vials of crack cocaine and 11 jars of marijuana. He was placed under arrest without further incident and charged with multiple offenses.
The tactical skill and attention to detail displayed by Sergeant Gonzalez and Officer Gibson led to the apprehension of an armed and dangerous drug dealer, and as such they are deserving of this recognition as Camden County Police Department Officers of the Week.← National Night Out – Aug. 7 Missing person – Jasalyn Adams →
