This week, the Camden County Police Department is pleased to recognize two officers who have demonstrated their commitment to one of our most important community policing initiatives – Officers Gabrielle Camcho and Tyrrell Bagby.
Both officers joined the department in 2013 and are assigned to our Neighborhood Response Team – Central.
In November 2014, the Camden County Police Department began an important partnership with the mayor’s office, the Camden City School District and the Jewish Community Relations Council Bookmates program to have police officers visit schools in the city and spend time each week reading individually to kindergartners. The same officers visit the same school each week to read to the same children, allowing them to form special bonds and provide these children with a truly unique opportunity to enjoy reading.
Since the very first year of the Bookmates program, Officers Camacho and Bagby have been involved, reading to children who are excited to see them each week. Officers Camacho and Bagby recently took part in the launch of the program this year and are continuing to return to their assigned schools each week to spend time valuable time with Camden’s youngest students. The children they spend time with are always happy and excited to see them, and get a chance to wear their hats and become junior officers!
For helping to build a positive relationship between Camden’s youngest students and the police department, and for serving as role models for children and fellow officers through their commitment to this program, we honor Officers Camacho and Bagby as the Camden County Police Department Officers of the Week.← Missing person – Aroticacharles Cooper Kidnapped infant located on RiverLine train →
