This week, the Camden County Police Department is proud to recognize an officer whose composure and professionalism were on display when needed most after two of his fellow officers were shot.
Officer Joseph Mair joined the Camden County Police Department in 2016. He is assigned to the department’s Neighborhood Response Team in the 2nd and 4th Districts.
On the night of Aug. 7, 2018, just before 8:30 p.m., Officer Mair was on patrol near the Broadway corridor when he heard an alert for a Shotspotter activation in the area of 933 South Broadway. Officer Mair arrived at the scene in less than two minutes and observed that two Camden County Police Department detectives in plain clothes had been shot. Officer Mair acted immediately to render aid to the detectives and got both of them into his patrol vehicle. He then rushed them to Cooper University Hospital for treatment while also relaying critical information to other officers headed to the scene.
Officer Mair acted quickly and decisively to help his fellow officers and ensure that they received the medical treatment they needed without delay. For his actions, we honor him as Camden County Police Department Officer of the Week.← Officers of the Week – Michael Landolt & Melvin Fuentes Missing person – Hykem Williams →
