Drug dealers, buyers arrested

(Camden, NJ) – On Wednesday and Friday, Camden County Police Department officers conducted extensive operations to target drug dealers and drug buyers primarily in North Camden and also in Whitman Park and other parts of the city.

As is typically the case, the arrests demonstrate how suburban buyers stream into the city, fueling the drug trade. Of the 45 buyers total arrested Wednesday and Friday, 36 (80%) were residents of suburban communities or Philadelphia.

All of those arrested for trying to buy heroin, cocaine or crack have been charged with Loitering to Commit a CDS Offense, which carries a sentence of up to six months in jail and a fine of up to $1,000. The 19 arrested Wednesday in North Camden are:

Camden County Police Officers also arrested 18 men and one 15-year-old male juvenile in North Camden, Whitman Park and elsewhere in the city Wednesday. They are charged with Drug Possession with Intent to Distribute, many of them within 1,000 feet of a school or 500 feet of a park or public housing facility. The 18 adults charged are:

The Camden County Police Department and Camden County Prosecutor’s Office are also continuing to investigate the cause of at least three people reported to have overdosed on heroin, one of them twice, in the pre-dawn and morning hours Friday. Investigators are working to determine whether Shadid Fauntleroy, 24, of Camden, arrested Friday for possession with intent to distribute, was responsible for selling the drugs that led to the overdoses.

All persons charged with criminal offenses are presumed innocent unless and until found guilty in a court of law.
